The Irish Local Development Network (ILDN), representing Irelands 49 Local Development Companies (LDCs) are highlighting the work being done by LDCs nationwide as part of the Government’s “Keep Well” Campaign which aims to support people and communities to mind their physical and mental health over the coming months as COVID-19 restrictions continue.

The “Keep Well” Campaign is focused on five main themes including “Switching off & being creative”. LDC’s in every community are offering services for people of all ages through the assistance of the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP), LEADER and a range of other publicly funded schemes which offer the opportunity for participants to “switch off & be creative”.

Many ILDN member are taking to the internet to provide engaging programmes for participants to benefit from.  Be it through YouTube channels, Zoom or LDC’s websites there is a diverse range of activities to choose from. Arts, crafts, painting, music, design, pottery, flower arranging and reading are amongst some of the activities that can be accessed through LDCs online.

Reaching out to vulnerable and disadvantaged communities is part of the daily activities of ILDN member LDCs. “Be Creative” resource packs have been delivered by LDCs in some areas providing materials for arts & crafts, cookery and baking.
