ILDN Welcomes UN award for SICAP programme.
The Irish Local Development Network, the national body representing Ireland’s 49 Local Development Companies, have today welcomed the United Nations decision to award the programme a prestigious award for public service. The 'Institutional resilience and innovative responses to the Covid-19 pandemic' award is recognition from the UN on Public Service Day.
ILDN Chairperson Mr Jim Finn said “Local Development Companies through their SICAP programmes adapted swiftly to the needs of their communities during the pandemic. I would like to sincerely congratulate Local Development Companies and their staff on their sterling public service, this award is an acknowledgement of that.”
ILDN Welcomes €5m Allocation to Local Development Companies
The Irish Local Development Network, the national body representing Ireland’s 49 Local Development Companies, have today welcomed the government’s decision to allocate €5m to their members to assist in their ongoing provision of community development and social inclusion supports to Ukrainians who have arrived here recently.
ILDN CEO Joe Saunders said “Local Development Companies already provide a huge range of supports to migrant communities and the demand has obviously accelerated since March. Staff will welcome these additional resources which will help provide an even more effective response and ensure that funds allocated for pre-existing priorities do not need diversion.”
