The Irish Local Development Network (ILDN) representing Ireland’s 49 Local Development Companies have today welcomed the announcement of €2.2 million in funding to support migrant integration projects by the Minister for Children Equality Disability, Integration. & Youth, Roderic O’Gorman TD.
ILDN members Dublin City Community Co-Op, Galway City Partnership and South Dublin County Partnership are amongst 18 projects nationwide which will receive 3-year grant funding to help promote initiatives that address areas where migrants find it difficult to avail of opportunities on an equal basis with other members of Irish society.
All 49 ILDN members nationwide provide a wide range of social inclusion and community integration services to migrants and New Communities under the €43 million Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP), funded by the Department of Rural & Community Development.
The National Integration Fund provided by the Department of Children, Equality , Integration and Youth is a welcome additional fund to build on the valuable work being undertaken by LDCs in Communities across the Country to support integration and social inclusion activities.
