Irish Local Development Network (ILDN) have extended their congratulations to their member Local Development Company (LDC) South Mayo Development, on the success of their ‘Foundation 4 Life’ Programme which is supported by the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP).
Foundation 4 Life caters for young people not currently engaged in employment, education or training. It is enhanced by intensive mentoring and significant social supports, including contributions to childcare and travel and the provision of nutritious meals, The programme is the brainchild of Catherine McCloskey, SICAP Youth and Community Development Worker with South West Mayo Development Company and Pat Conway, Community Liaison Worker, Western Region Drugs Alcohol Taskforce.
Over the past three years, Foundation 4 Life has achieved outstanding results with 70 per cent of participants progressing onto either employment, education or training. The success of the project was showcased this week at an online event addressed by the Minister of State for Community Development Joe O’Brien TD.
Foundation 4 Life is an excellent example of an educational, life skills and job activation programme provided by an ILDN member supported through the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme and we are extremely proud of the hard work and success of South Mayo Development Company in delivering this programme in the Community.
