Hidden Valley Holiday Park — supported by County Wicklow Partnership

Hidden Valley Holiday Park was supported by County Wicklow Partnership (CWP) in 2011 through the LEADER Rural Development Programme for the development of an adventure playground at their centre in Rathdrum.

Hidden Valley offers self-catering cabins, camping facilities, camper’s kitchen, showers and toilets. In addition there are a host of on-site activities such as rowing boats and more recently Hidden Valley is offering kayaking and bike hire. Its picturesque setting beside the weir and nestled below the forest make it a very attractive holiday location.

Hidden Valley is a family owned and operated business. In 2005, it was acquired by the current owners, Llyod & Molly Williams who have radically transformed the resort from a 2-star to a 4-star Fáilte Ireland approved facility with on-going support from the LEADER Programme. The addition of the adventure playground, supported by County Wicklow Partnership, and other changes have allowed this upgrade. The business continues to improve and occupancy levels have been rising steadily.

The centre is one of the key operators in the tourism industry in Wicklow and makes a significant input to both the local economy in Rathdrum and the county in general. As one of Ireland’s premier camping facilities visitors are attracted to the county, many of whom sample some of the other treasures the garden county has to offer.

The owners talk about the importance of the support provided by County Wicklow Partnership:

Molly Williams, Owner:

“We wouldn’t be where we are today without CWP behind us, by adding new facilities we are attracting more families to the area benefitting both us and Rathdrum town.”

Lloyd Williams, Owner:

“Funding ‘enabled our business to grow at a much faster rate which in turn obviously led to creating a much bigger business, so that we can attract more visitors and provide more employment.”
